Lower the Fish Hawk TD to record water temperature every 5-feet from the surface to the bottom. Locate the depth of fish by finding their preferred water temperature within the water column.
This is my second Fish Hawk TD. The first one lasted about 7 years. I use it to determine water temperatures to find the thermocline and the fish's preferred water temperature. The TD has put me in the right depth for lake perch in Lake Michigan without fail. Francis Buchheit Chesterton, IN

This is my second Fish Hawk TD unit. I use these units to locate both walleye and trout when night fishing. My fist unit worked flawlessly and had it from 2015 till July 2022 when I totaled both my truck and boat leaving the launch ramp after night fishing. These units are incredibly helpful and allow me to zero in on the proper depth without much effort. It’s fascinating to see thermoclines set up in early Summer along with the flipping of the lake in late Fall. I won’t fish with one of these units. Worth every dollar!
I've have used one of the Fish Hawk Electronics products for over about 10 years now. That item was the Fish Hawk TD and used it over those years when fishing on the Great Lakes and later on in the Columbia River . This Fish Hawk TD worked flawlessly for us throughout. Now this year as we prepared for the fall 2021 salmon fishing, I noticed that the Fish Hawk TD battery was beginning to show it's age. The Fish Hawk TD still appeared to function, but the screen was hardly visible. Think about it 10 years of service! This says a ton for the reliability and quality product offered by Fish Hawk Electronics. We spent very little time waiting to purchase a new Fish Hawk TD unit and feel totally confident that we'll continue to serve us well for for the next ten+ years. Great tool for the boat
First time out with this small pocket sized unit , I was a little doubtful in its value. I hooked it up to my rigger and sent it to the bottom. Pulled it back up and hit the view button. Wow! What a sweet little unit. Did exactly what was advertised. It clearly showed a temperature break at around 95 feet in 230fow. This told me to run my baits deep. Result was a box full of king salmon fillets. Home run on a more affordable unit that anyone can benefit from. Temperature is crucial when targeting cold water species, and this unit is a must have.
I use it several times per morning to determine temperature breaks when fishing salmon on Lake Michigan. On inland lakes I use it to find thermocline/oxycline levels. It is a great little device. Pretty durable too. Just take care of it like it says in the instructions. It’s really necessary on the big lake.
